BorgBackup
Deduplicated, encrypted backups for Linux servers.
BorgBackup backs up files with deduplication, compression and optional encryption, including to remote targets over SSH. It is lightweight, open source and proven on Linux servers.
We place it in Trial. It does not replace a central backup platform with management, reporting and integration for databases or virtual machines. Version 2.0 is not yet stable and is not compatible with repositories from version 1.x. As with any backup, restore tests are a fixed part of operations.
- Linux servers, configurations and files need backing up
- an encrypted copy is to be kept at a second site
- you are looking for a lightweight solution without licence costs
- many systems need central management and reporting for audits
- databases or virtual machines are to be backed up in an application-consistent way
